The Alodaw Pauk Pagoda, was once known as Inn Phaya (Pagoda of the lake), and later named as Yadana Pagoda (jewel) before renowned as current name. It is situated at Nampan village of Nyaung Shwe Tsp in southern Shan State. The pagoda was built by King Thiri Dhamma Thawka, famous King of India, and is one of 84,000 pagodas built by the king.
The pagoda was renovated by several Kings of Bagan Era, King Anawrahta, King Alaungsithu, and King Narapatisithu. King Alaungsithu rebuilt the pagoda enshrining the relics of Buddha, which appeared after he vowed on the upside down jeweled bowl. King Saw Mon Nit from Bagan era had gilded the pagoda and renamed as Alodaw Pauk pagoda, the current name.
