Shwe Indein Pagoda is at Indein village, surrounded a collection 1600 ancient stupas at the bottom of the hill. There is sense of peace and serenity from the bells hanging at the crown umbrella of the stupas. Inside the pagoda walkway, you will find arts and craft vendors selling local goods. The stupas are in various stages of restoration as some looks thousands of years old, while others are newly restored.
Indein village is at the end of scenic Indein creek, connected to Inle Lake past Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda. This narrow creek has many twists and turns, surrounded by paddy fields and floating gardens. You can sometimes see the farmers plugging and harrowing in the field using water buffaloes.
