Designed for those who want to experience the best Myanmar have to offer but not much time to spare, this package is perfect for those in the South East Asia region (or further afield), looking for a long-weekend cultural getaway. You will get to explore Mandalay, the heart of Burmese culture, and experience the most famous Myanmar heritage, Bagan. Founded by Thamoddarit in the early 2nd Century, Bagan boasts 2,000 monuments covering the area of 16 square miles.

MANDALAY WEEKENDER (3 Days/ 2 Nights)

Day-1: Arrival Mandalay – Bagan (Evening Flight 16:40 – 17:10)

Morning arrive at Mandalay by morning flight and meet with our local guide and transfer to hotel first. After breakfast, transfer to the airport for Mandalay. Upon arrival, excursion to Amarapura, 11km from Mandalay to visit Mahagandayon Monastery where more than a thousand monks live and study the Buddha scripture. If time permits, you will have the opportunity to observe the monks having their last meal of the day in total silence.

In the afternoon, back to Mandalay to visit major attractions, starting with Mahamuni Pagoda inside of which the bronze Buddha statue is all gilded with gold, yet monks and pilgrims are still applying gold layers every day. Next, we will visit Golden Palace Monastery, which is famous for its intricate woodcarvings. Continue our trip to the world-known Kuthodaw Pagoda, holding the world's largest book carved Buddhism scriptures on 729 marble slabs.

Our last stop will be the Mandalay Hill. Atop the hill, Buddha once prophesied that a grand city, that is Mandalay of present day, would rise in the 2400th year of his faith. Taking in a panoramic view of the whole city, you might find yes sometimes prophecy does come true.

In the evening, transfer to the airport for flight to Nyaung-U, on arrival, transfer to the hotel and check in to the hotel directly

Day-2: Bagan

Breakfast at the hotel, then, a full-day sightseeing tour of Bagan with a diverse selection of the most important pagodas and temples, such as Shwezigon Pagoda, built by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century as a religious shrine; the Wetkyiin Gu Byauk Gyi Temple, as well as the elegant Htilominlo Temple, a temple with exquisite murals of Jataka scenes; the Ananda Temple, with four huge standing Buddha images and Ananda Okkyaung, a small red brick monastery located inside Ananda compound which was built in 1137 A.D. Continue to famous Dhammayangyi Temple Temple and Sula Mani Temple. After lunch, recharge with a short-rest at the hotel and in the afternoon, a visit to Myinkaba, two kilometres south of Bagan. This village is well known for its lacquerware workshops and has also a number of interesting temples, as Nanphaya Temple, said to have once been the residence of King Manuha and Gu Byauk Gyi Temple with very nice frescoes inside. Enjoy your soothing sunset at Shwesandaw Pagoda.

Day-3: Bagan- Mandalay (Morning flight 07:45 – 08:15) Departure

After breakfast, morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Mandalay. Upon arriving at Mandalay, we will escort you to the airport for your departure flight. Happy flight home!
